San Bernardino records 5th homicide in two weeks
SAN BERNARDINO – (INT) – A 17-year-old boy is suspected of killing a gas station clerk during a robbery Friday.

Preliminary accounts from witnesses said the boy was brandishing a sawed-off shotgun when he entered the gas station on Orange Show Road at ‘E’ Street, made his demands for money, shot the cashier and fled.

The youthful bandit was found and arrested a short distance away.

Police identified the victim Saturday as Beshou Soliman, 30, of Colton. The name of the juvenile suspect was withheld.

Meantime, police are confident there were witnesses to a man’s fatal stabbing Thursday at Seccombe Park.

Damon Leon Byrd was unresponsive when police showed up late Thursday afternoon and died at a local hospital.

Those residing near the park say that Byrd, a 41-year-old transient, lived in and around the park.

Homicide detectives had no suspect information.

Friday’s gas station slaying was the fifth homicide since May 31st and the 18th of the year in San Bernardino.
