Goleta fire damage assessed, emergency declared
SANTA BARBARA - (INT) - The Santa Barbara County community of Goleta is the latest trouble spot for wildfires burning throughout the state.
Several structures were burned and hundreds of others were threatened after a fire ignited Friday night in the hills above Goleta.
The Holiday fire exploded Friday night fueled by triple digit heat and dangerous “sundowner” winds that made the blaze impossible to control. The Holiday Fire has burned 20 structures and forced the evacuation of 2,000 people. No injuries were reported.
Governor Brown issued an emergency proclamation for Santa Barbara County due to the impact of the Holiday Fire.
