SAN BERNARDINO - (INT) – A long-running investigation into the murder of a gang member’s wife demonstrates the reach of the Mexican Mafia.

An investigation dubbed Operation Green Hand has resulted in 86 arrests. Three imprisoned gang members were behind bars when they allegedly planned and ordered the killing of Carmen Rodriguez in San Bernardino. She was the wife of Mexican Mafia member Andrew Rodriguez who was in custody at Pelican Bay State Prison at the time of the January 2017 slaying.

Murder and gang enhancement charges were filed July 11th against Isaac Aguirre, Robert Fernandez, Eric Moreno, Richard Garcia and Matthew Manzano. All are in custody.

Most of those jailed under Operation Green Hand are suspected in unrelated cases involving various weapons, conspiracy, auto theft and narcotic charges.
