Jury recommends punishment for triple killers
SAN BERNARDINO – (INT) – A Superior Court jury is recommending no-parole prison terms for two men convicted in a triple murder.
The panel returned its decision Thursday sparing Jesus Urzua and Emmanuel Pimentel the death penalty in a trial that began last spring. The same jury found that the pair unleashed a hail of gunfire in a San Bernardino mobile home park (on West Highland Avenue) in July 2011. Killed were Jesus Tiburiso, Ruben Sanchez and Evaristo Contreras.
Prosecutors said the motive was to benefit a street gang.
Witnesses enabled police to locate and arrest Urzua and Pimentel. Their murder weapons were recovered.
They’ll be sentenced September 14th.
