Hit-run drivers claim two more pedestrians
INLAND EMPIRE – (INT) – More pedestrians are falling victim to hit-and-run drivers in what's becoming an epidemic.

Two are dead following separate incidents at Lake Elsinore and San Bernardino and the motorists who struck them are nowhere to be found.

Gardell Cowart II, 24, died late Sunday night near the intersection of Highway 74 and Cambern Ave, Lake Elsinore.

Earlier in San Bernardino, the coroner reported a similar mishap. Michael Brown, 38, was walking along Waterman Avenue near 3rd Street Sunday when he was struck by a vehicle that sped away in the early morning darkness. His body was found on a sidewalk.

In both cases, the motorists failed to stop and report the incidents which is required by law even if they were not at fault.
