IDYLLWILD – (INT) – Mop-up and rehabilitation is likely to continue for several weeks in the wake of the Cranston Fire.

It has been brought under full containment after a battle that began July 25th when it was started by an accused arsonist.

The fire swept across 13,139 acres and destroyed 17 buildings including five homes.

Only thirty-nine of the several hundred firefighters remain squelching hot spots within the fire’s perimeter.

A list of emergency stabilization measures will be enacted in the fire-scarred watersheds before the first major rain storms this winter.

Repairs along Route 74 east of Hemet into the mountains were completed Saturday and the highway was reopened. Work is continuing to repair 30 more drains and culverts.

Electric service has been restored to most of the fire zone and the community of Idyllwild is open for business.
