Long-running Valley Fire still smolders
FOREST FALLS – (INT) – The Inland Empire’s longest-burning wildfire this summer is still smoldering on the mountainsides above Forest Falls.

The Valley Fire has been burning since July 6th after starting of unknown cause just off Highway 38. No homes have been damaged and all evacuees have returned. It is 82 percent contained after covering 1,350 acres.

Because it is mostly in the San Gorgonio Wilderness, some trails remain closed including portions of San Bernardino Peak Trail, Momyer Trail and Foresee Creek Trail, including John's Meadow. Reopening are the Vivian Creek Trail, the popular route to the summit of San Gorgonio Peak, and several backcountry campsites.

The remaining closure area is set to reopen on December 31, 2018.
