Spanish language radio broadcaster Alfredo Gonzalez dies
REDLANDS – (INT) – A memorial celebration is being planned for retired Spanish radio broadcaster Alfredo Gonzalez. He died at his home August 14th at age 84.

Gonzalez’ radio career spanned nearly 60 years beginning in 1958 when Redlands-based KCAL (1410AM) introduced Spanish-language radio programming to the San Bernardino-Riverside area.

Gonzalez later managed the station and made numerous public appearances hosting fund-raisers and other public events throughout the local region.

In 2007, he was honored by San Bernardino County with a Lifetime Achievement Award for his work on KCSB – TV Channel 3.

Gonzalez retired in 2017 as a host of a regular public affairs program carried by Lazer Broadcasting.

Survivors include his wife, Kitty Dodge Gonzales, and two daughters.
