Climatologists issue El Nino update
SOUTHLAND – (INT) – Climatologists are sticking with their earlier prediction of a 70 percent chance of an El Nino this winter. It could determine the amount of rain and snowfall in California between November and March.

The Climate Prediction Center (CPC) expects the onset of El Nino this fall with chances increasing during the winter but only as a weak overall event.

The CPC evaluates ocean temperatures and wind patterns in the central and Eastern Pacific in its latest outlook issued September 13th.

An opposing La Nina has played a role in California’s weather the past two winters.
