ONT passengers hit decade-long peak
ONTARIO – (INT) – Expanding passenger volume at Ontario International Airport (OIA) is taking off.
More than 458,000 passengers used the regional air terminal in August, the most for a single month since October 2008 when the recession hit.
The number of arriving and departing passengers was up 18.2 percent the past 12 months. International travelers gained at the fastest rate by more than 82 percent. Frontier Airlines’ launched daily, non-stop service to Orlando and JetBlue began nonstop service between ONT and New York’s JFK Airport.
In the first eight months of this year, more than 3.3 million travelers moved through ONT, an increase of 13.2% over the same period a year ago.
