California has six cities on WalletHub’s top ten ‘greenest’ cities in America list.

WalletHub singled out the cities promoting a ‘green’ lifestyle using 26 key indicators of environmental friendliness and sustainability. The data set ranges from greenhouse-gas emissions per capita to ‘green’ job opportunities per capita to number of smart-energy policies and initiatives.

San Diego topped the 100 cities considered in the study. Also making the top ten list were San Francisco, Irvine, San Jose, Fremont and Sacramento.

San Bernardino was 16th and Riverside 22nd.

In another comparison, Riverside and San Bernardino ranked worst in the air quality index.
