El Nino chances boosted to 75 percent
SOUTHLAND – (INT) – The Climate Prediction Center has raised to 75 percent the chances of an El Nino forming this fall and continuing through the winter. It could mean more rain for California.

The most recent advisory has found above-average sea surface temperatures across the equatorial Pacific Ocean which is indicative of an El Nino. Upper level wind anomalies are occurring over the Eastern Pacific.

Most computer models predict the El Nino to form this fall and continue through the winter.

El Nino usually brings more rain into California, but two years ago an opposing La Nina was in force and rainfall was heavy enough to end a 7-year drought.
