Convicted killer exonerated 20 years later
RIVERSIDE – (INT) – Prosecutors announced Monday the release of a man wrongfully convicted of a woman’s murder in 1998 and the arrest of two men.

Horace Roberts has been absolved of any wrong-doing in the death of Terry Cheek. Her body was found in April 1998 amid some rocks along Temescal Canyon Road south of Corona.

Roberts, Cheek’s boyfriend and co-worker at the time, was arrested and convicted in 1999 of second-degree murder. Roberts was sentenced to 15 years to life in prison.

Prosecutors said the case in Riverside Superior Court was dismissed last Friday after an analysis of DNA evidence.

Under arrest are Joaquin Leal, 53, of Compton, nephew of the victim, and Googie Harris, Sr., 62, of Jurupa Valley, victim's husband.
