DUI figures in deadly freeway mishaps
INLAND EMPIRE – (INT) – DUI has figured in a pair of deadly freeway accidents and two motorists are under arrest.

Juan Franco, 33, of Yucca Valley was allegedly driving drunk when his car ran off Interstate 10 at Whitewater Monday and crashed into a series of boulders. His female passenger was killed.

The California Highway Patrol says that Lawrence Washington, 56, of San Bernardino was DUI when his truck hit two Good Samaritan pedestrians who’d stopped to help victims of an earlier accident on Interstate 215 at the Riverside-San Bernardino County line.

In Old Town Temecula, Patrick King, 64, lost his life in an accident at an intersection late Sunday.

And near Morongo Valley, another person died when a vehicle ran off Highway 62 and crashed into a power pole.
