Perris City Council candidate throws in the towel
PERRIS – (INT) – His campaign signs are posted throughout the city, but City Council candidate Raul Ruiz admits he has a residency problem.

A political ad in Wednesday’s Perris Progress underwritten by the Committee to Elect Raul Ruiz states that he admits violating the law for misrepresenting his residency within the city.

The ad declares that he is withdrawing from the race and that should he win he will immediately resign. Ruiz’ name will still appear on Tuesday’s ballot.

Two other candidates for Perris City Council have come under fire the past 10-years.

Julio Rodriguez resigned his council seat after accepting a plea bargain to charges stemming from an all-night session smoking ‘meth’ with two men at the Red Lion Inn in Perris in 2014. Rodriguez was elected to the City Council in 2012 after spending only $500 for some campaign signs. Rodriguez was given 5-years probation plus a year in a work release program.

Rita Rogers, who was acquitted in a drug-possession case, was re-elected to the Perris City Council in 2008 where she still serves.
