New wildfire stopped below Cajon Pass
RIALTO – (INT) – Fading winds helped firefighters put Tuesday night’s wildfire.

The Sierra Fire swept across 147 acres and briefly forced a late night evacuation as flames bore down on a subdivision of homes near Sierra Avenue and Riverside Drive. Bulldozer operators are being credited with steering away the advancing fire.

There were anxious moments Tuesday night when the gale-force winds blew flying embers into the night sky. Flames could be seen for several miles.

Fontana police said the fire originated at a warehouse near Sierra Avenue and Riverside Drive.
