Migrants caught after crossing Mexican border
SAN DIEGO COUNTY – (INT) – A pair of incidents has heightened tensions over migrants trying to cross the Mexican border into Southern California.

Border Patrol agents chased one of several vehicles that crossed the border in eastern San Diego County Thursday. A pick-up truck with eleven individuals eventually crashed and overturned on Interstate 8. Three people died and seven others suffered multiple serious injuries.

The crash climaxed what the Border Patrol said was a “drive-through smuggling event”. The driver who initiated the chase is being charged with vehicular manslaughter.

Earlier just a mile from the San Ysidro Port of Entry, one of three captured migrants turned out to be convicted murderer from Honduras who’d been traveling with a migrant caravan.

The man had been released 4-months ago after serving 10 years in a Honduran prison for homicide and 3 years for robbery.
