Another winter of pile burning begins
INLAND EMPIRE – (INT) – Cooler, damp weather has allowed the Forest Service and CalFire to begin another winter of pile burning in the local mountains.
The first occurred above Yucaipa in an effort to create defensible space around the 40 acre Mill Creek Ranger Station complex.
There was another in the San Jacinto Mountains at the Vista Grande Fire Station between Banning and Idyllwild along Hwy 243. Three more pile burnings are on deck in the local mountains.
Smoke and flames may be seen coming from the burns, but authorities offered assurances they are under full control.
