Smoke and fire coming to local mountains
INLAND EMPIRE – (INT) – The Forest Service is stepping up its prescribed fires and pile burning as a hedge against future wildfires.

The largest is planned to cover 234-acres on the west side of Pine Cove in the San Jacinto Mountains. Others are planned in the San Bernardino Mountains at Angelus Oaks and Big Bear Valley.

Winter weather conditions are right for burning in the coming days.

Smoke and flames may be seen coming from the burns, but authorities offered assurances they are under full control.
