Board of Supervisors completes turn-over in 6-years
RIVERSIDE – (INT) – Two veteran county supervisors bid farewell to their constituents Tuesday ending years in elective office.

Commemorations of Service were presented to John Tavaglione and Marion Ashley. Both are retiring. Tavaglione was elected in 1994 and Ashley in 2002.

They are being succeeded by Karen Spiegel in District 2 and Jeff Hewitt in District 5. Both won run-off contests in the November election and will serve 4-year terms.

That leaves District 1 Supervisor Kevin Jeffries, who was elected in 2012, as the senior member of the board.

Earlier, District 4 Supervisor V. Manuel Perez won election to a full term after being appointed to replace John Benoit who died while in office.

District 3 Supervisor Chuck Washington was first appointed in 2015 to replace Jeff Stone who quit to run a successful campaign for State Senate.
