BEAUMONT – (INT) – Authorities disclosed Tuesday that Beaumont police were in pursuit of a motorist who was ultimately killed in a wrong-way collision on Route 60 late Sunday night.

Investigating California Highway Patrol officers said that Beaumont police chased the 28-year-old Moreno Valley man westbound into the Badlands where he entered the opposing lanes of traffic. The pursuit abruptly ended in a head-on crash.

The fleeing motorist died early Monday at the Riverside University Health Systems Medical Hospital in Moreno Valley.

The other driver, Mariana Revolorio, 36, from Norwalk was expected to survive her injuries.
