Work begins on 500 acre solar energy farm
MECCA – (INT) - Another Riverside County site will be transformed into a solar energy farm.

Construction is about to begin on Sunpin Solar’s North Shore Solar Project at Mecca in the Lower Coachella Valley.

The plant will crank out nearly 97 megawatts utilizing 300,000 solar panels spread across 500 acres.

The project will create over 400 jobs.

A groundbreaking was held last week.

Many of Riverside County’s solar energy plants are situated in the Palo Verde Valley and the eastern desert region. The county’s prime wind energy farms are spread across the lower San Gorgonio Pass into Palm Springs.
