Fire bug admits starting Cranston Fire
MURRIETA – (INT) – A Temecula man has been handed a 12-year, 4-month prison sentence for an arson spree last summer that resulted in the destructive Cranston Fire.

Brandon McGlover, 33, could have faced a potential life prison term. But, under a plea bargain Thursday he admitted two charges. Seven others were dismissed. McGlover will also pay an unspecified amount of restitution.

McGlover was arrested last July 25th after driving around the Idyllwild, Anza and Sage areas tossing lighted road flares from his moving sedan. Witnesses had followed him down Highway 74 out of the mountains.

The Cranston Fire covered more than 13,000 acres and destroyed five homes.
