Foothill arsonist facing sentencing
SAN BERNARDINO – (INT) – A young Yucaipa man is facing sentencing June 14th after admitting to several arson charges stemming from a series of fires that flared in the foothills of the San Bernardino Mountains in the summer of 2017.

As part of a plea bargain in San Bernardino Superior Court, ten counts against Jarrod Samra were dismissed on February 15th.

Samra was alleged to have gone on a month-long arson spree between Devore and Yucaipa. The largest fire covered 460 acres and seriously injured one firefighter. Combined, the fires burned 900 acres. Fire fighting costs exceeded $1 million.

Samra was arrested as authorities checked out a vehicle he’d driven that was parked near the point of origin of one blaze.
