Easter holiday traffic death toll lowest in 3-years
INLAND EMPIRE – (INT) – Easter weekend traffic mishaps across Riverside and San Bernardino counties claimed the lives of five people.

They included a bicyclist in Jurupa Valley and a motorcyclist who crashed on Highway 18 at Crestline. Authorities announced Monday an arrest in the hit-run death of the bicyclist.

Another accident in Cathedral City killed Gilbert Avila, Jr., 28, of Banning. Another fatality was reported by the coroner in nearby Indio.

A young woman from Torrance perished when she became distracted causing her vehicle to crash on Route 60 in the Badlands west of Beaumont.

Meantime, the California Highway Patrol has assumed a non-traffic murder investigation into the death of a San Bernardino man found dead behind the wheel of his truck on the shoulder of Interstate 15 at Lake Elsinore. A female passenger was arrested.

The death toll was the Inland Empire’s lowest for the Easter holiday in 3-years.
