Storm chills Southland with more to come
SOUTHLAND - (INT) - Showers and thunderstorms are winding down after a wild day Wednesday, but a weekend encore is on the way.

Storms lashed out at most of Southern California with a wide range of consequences. Intense lightning preceded downpours that flooded streets in the Inland Empire’s Metro area.

Hail accompanied the thunderstorms that rumbled along the foothills. Lightning forced lifeguards to evacuate beaches from Malibu to Orange County.

Some of the heaviest rainfall measuring nearly an inch drenched areas from Ontario to Beaumont. Flooding closed a portion of the Pomona Freeway in Chino prompting an Urban and Small Stream Flood Advisory late Wednesday afternoon.

It was snow showers that made the day for some mountain residents where a Winter Weather Advisory was posted.

Another spring storm sliding down the California coast is forecast to strike late Saturday into Sunday with more wet weather likely, possibly spilling into Memorial Day Monday.

Rainfall to 4:30pm Wednesday:
Beaumont .83
Moreno Valley .48
Ontario .75
Riverside .16
San Jacinto .52
Palm Springs .09
