San Bernardino’s Chuck Obershaw dies at 92
SAN BERNARDINO – (INT) – A memorial service is planned Thursday for well-known auto dealer and long-time San Bernardino resident Chuck Obershaw.

Mr. Obershaw died Thursday at his home at the age of 92.

He formerly owned and was CEO of the Toyota auto dealership that bears his name and was later sold to Toyota of San Bernardino.

As a philanthropist, Mr. Obershaw supported local education and generously donated to Cal State San Bernardino, San Bernardino Valley College and the San Bernardino City Unified School District. He was along-time underwriter of local news on KVCR radio. The scholarship endowment created by his gift to Cal State is now valued at nearly $10 million.

He has served on the boards of the National Orange Show, the Community Hospital of San Bernardino and the local YMCA. At the university he has sat on the CSUSB Foundation Board. He served in the 187th Paraglider Infantry in the Pacific during World War II.

Thursday’s 2pm memorial service will be at the First Presbyterian Church of San Bernardino.
