Lawmen's response to domestic disturbance lethal
RIVERSIDE – (INT) – A sheriff’s deputy wounded by a domestic disturbance suspect who died in a gun battle has been released after hospital treatment.

The Tuesday evening shootout occurred when a deputy and a peace officer from Cal Fire responded to a residence on Cedarwood Drive at Victoria Grove in Lake Hills just outside Riverside.

According to a statement issued early Wednesday, the first-responders were told the suspect had a gun. After a female safely emerged from the home, the gunman began shooting at officers who returned fire killing the individual.

Identities of those involved and details of the circumstances were not released as of mid-morning Wednesday.
