A former deputy with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department was sentenced Monday to 12 months in federal prison for lying to FBI agents about the beating of a handcuffed man at Men’s Central Jail in downtown Los Angeles. Byron Dredd, 37, was found guilty by a federal jury in January of making false statements to the FBI. (INT)
