‘60 Swarm’ prompts weekend detours
ONTARIO – (INT) – Caltrans is making good on its advance warnings to avoid Freeway 60 for the next several weekends.

Work is underway to repair deteriorating pavement slabs from Euclid Avenue in Ontario to the 60/91/215 Junction in Riverside.

Full directional closures will continue for fourteen weekends Friday nights until early Monday mornings.

Eastbound lanes are getting the initial treatment with weekend closures beginning Friday nights at 10pm until Monday’s at 5am.

Westbound closures will follow.

Later this fall, a bridge repair project begins to replace the Pipeline Avenue, Monte Vista Avenue and Benson Avenue bridges. The combination of these two projects and two other local interchange projects has been dubbed the “60 Swarm”.

The $134 million pavement project includes funding from Senate Bill 1, the Road Repair and Accountability Act of 2017. The project is expected to be complete in fall 2021.
