Heat wave running out of degrees, modest cooling ahead
INLAND EMPIRE - (INT) Forecasters believe the triple digit heat wave has run its course in most of Southern California. However, an Excessive Heat Warning has been extended through Tuesday in Imperial County.

Monday was the fifth consecutive day for the longest heat wave of the season.

Monday’s highs –
Ontario 101
San Bernardino 102
Riverside 100
Lake Elsinore 103
Palm Springs 117
Thermal 118 (record for the date)

With afternoon temperatures still running above normal, local health officials advise that the cumulative effects of several days of hot weather may cause heat exhaustion for those not prepared for it nor for those who are active outdoors during the day.

Weakening high pressure will bring a modest cooling trend to the coastal and inland valleys Tuesday and Wednesday. Afternoons should cool by about 5-degrees each day into Thursday.
