Takano joins presidential impeachment call WASHINGTON – (INT) – Citing “patterns of obstruction and defiance”, Congressman Mark Takano (D-Riverside) Thursday announced his support for impeachment proceedings against President Trump.
“It would be a dereliction of duty to sit by idly as the president chips away at our democracy, day by day,” Takano said in a statement. As a member of Congress, Takano said “Our job is big and we cannot shrink from holding this president accountable. I have an obligation to the Constitution I swore an oath to protect.” Takano said President Trump’s 2016 campaign welcomed the help of Russian interference. “And the president committed various acts that amount to obstruction of justice during this investigation in order to prevent it from moving forward.” Story Date: August 27, 2019
