RIDGECREST – (INT) – A spike in aftershocks stemming from the Ridgecrest Sequence is being felt in a 3-county area.

Thursday’s M5.0 has been followed by a series of jolts in the magnitude three and four range.

Most have been centered 20 miles north of Ridgecrest in the Little Lake area.

Local authorities have reported no additional damage. But, officials at the China Lake Naval Weapons Center says the aftershocks are slowing the installation’s recovery from the initial quakes in early July that caused $2 billion in damage.

There have been tens of thousands of aftershocks that could persist for years.
