Hemet and Idyllwild getting reconnected
IDYLLWILD (INT) Travel between Hemet and this mountain community is gradually getting easier.

While reconstruction and repairs on storm-damaged Route 74 continue, escort service is being provided 24/7. By early October, the emphasis will shift to flagging-operations.

Access to Idyllwild from the San Gorgonio Pass via Route 243 was made impossible by the same February storms. But, Caltrans has announced the opening of limited use of the highway beginning November 1st.

Reconstruction crews will be working on both highways for the remainder of the year in hopes of completing repairs barring the return of winter storms.
