Encephalitis virus detected in Eastvale
EASTVALE – (INT) – The St. Louis Encephalitis Virus (SLEV) has shown up in northwest Riverside County for the first time in over 15 years.

Officials with the Northwest Mosquito and Vector Control District detected the virus in a mosquito sampling, but said there have been no reported human cases.

SLEV is similar to West Nile Virus because symptoms are similar and the disease is carried by mosquitoes that feed on infected birds.

The area around Sumner Ave. and Schleisman Rd. is being surveyed for potential mosquito-breeding sources.
