Do Not Enter order at burned out mobile home park revised
CALIMESA – (INT) – The remains of the burned out Villa Calimesa Mobile Home Park remains a ‘public health menace’, but a ‘do not enter’ order is being revised.

County health officials Thursday lifted the Order of Closure allowing residents to return but only for clean-up. They are allowed to retrieve personal property, but may not remove debris or ash.

On Monday, County health director Dr. Cameron Kaiser warned of asbestos, toxic heavy metals and other toxic compounds in the remains of 76 mobile homes and vehicles and ordered the park closed to everyone. Still, some residents returned and began sifting through the ashes.

Residents are advised of safeguards including masks, gloves, goggles and snug-fitting clothes and limit the time spent on-site.

Two people died in the wind-fed fire that was started when the crew of a trash truck dumped a load of burning refuse on a roadside.
