31 years later, Joe Maddon puts on Angels managerial hat ANAHEIM – (INT) – Joe Maddon is an Angel – again.
Maddon and the Angels agreed Wednesday on a 3-year deal as manager. He is expected to receive a three-year contract in the $12 million to $15 million range, a source told ESPN. He will be formally introduced by the team at a news conference next week. Maddon, 65, is returning to the Angels organization -- with whom he spent the first three decades of his baseball career -- after managing the Chicago Cubs for five seasons and leading the franchise to its first World Series title in 108 years in 2016. The three-time Manager of the Year had been linked to the Angels job ever since the team fired Brad Ausmus on Sept. 30, a day after Maddon and the Cubs announced they were parting ways. The Angels finished 72-90 during Ausmus' only season as manager, and the franchise has made the playoffs just once in the last 10 seasons. Story Date: October 21, 2019
