Mountain highway 243 gets a new lease on life
BANNING - (INT) - Route 243 between Banning and Idyllwild is open for the first time since last February’s winter storms.

Caltrans said SR-243 was repaved during the emergency closure at an expense of $10 million. However the striping and recessed markers will be installed beginning Monday and should take about a week.

In addition, trees burned in the 2018 Cranston Fire are being removed. The Cranston Fire covered more than 13,000 acres and destroyed five homes.
