Storm squelches Cave Fire
SANTA BARBARA - Evacuees from the Cave Fire are back home in time for Thanksgiving, thanks to rain that helped firefighters bring the blaze to near containment.

All evacuation orders and warnings were lifted by 11 a.m. Wednesday, according to Santa Barbara County officials.

The storm initially caused concerns about potential debris flows, but the threat had passed by late Wednesday morning.

The fire in the hills above Santa Barbara was at least 4,330 acres.

Mike Eliason, a Santa Barbara County Fire Department spokesman, said although the fire was not technically contained, it was “pretty well taken care of and pretty well put to bed.”
