SOUTHLAND – (INT) – Falling gas prices are helping motorists with their year-end travel budgets.

While the statewide average for a gallon of 87 octane regular is $3.67, it’s $3.61 in Riverside and $3.68 in San Bernardino. That represents a decline of about 36-cents-a-gallon since last month.

Still, pump prices are running 29-cents-a-gallon higher than this time last year in the Metro area.

“A few more gas stations in Southern California have posted prices below $3.20 a gallon, and it’s likely we could see some station prices below $3 before the end of the year,” said Auto Club spokesman Jeffrey Spring.
