Drug smugglers using children as decoys
MURRIETA – (INT) – A woman is under arrest after Border Patrol agents caught her with methamphetamines hidden inside her car while driving with her two children.

The woman was making her way along the I-15 freeway at 2:50am Friday when she was pulled over.

Dog sniffing dogs prompted a search of her vehicle which turned up 17 cellophane-wrapped packages of methamphetamines concealed under the passenger seat. The packages weighed in at 43.21 pounds. The narcotics had a street value of $82,000.

The woman was arrested and turned over to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Office for further investigation. The two minor children were released to the custody of their father.

“Drug smugglers use children as a diversion and are often used as decoys to benefit transnational criminal organizations.” said San Diego Sector Chief Patrol Agent Douglas Harrison.
