Purchasing managers chime in on local economy
INLAND EMPIRE – (INT) – Purchasing managers are feeling pretty good about the local economy for the opening of 2020.

Those surveyed by the Institute of Applied Research at Cal State San Bernardino found only 7 percent who believe the local economy will weaken the first quarter of the year. Thirty-percent think it will strengthen and almost two-thirds feel it will remain the same.

The Purchasing Manager’s Index (PMI) rose in December. It was the third consecutive month indicating growth in the manufacturing sector and the economy as a whole.

Production and new orders jumped while the Employment Index registered a big drop in December. That index declined for 5 of the 12 months of 2019, the institute reported Monday.
