Congressman Hunter sets departure date
WASHINGTON - (INT) - Rep. Congressman Duncan Hunter has submitted his resignation and will leave office January 13th.
Last month, Hunter pleaded guilty in federal court to one count of conspiracy to misuse campaign funds after prosecutors said he and his wife, Margaret, who pleaded guilty earlier to conspiracy to misuse campaign funds and was expected to testify against him, "converted and stole" more than a quarter-million dollars in campaign funds.
Hunterís departure would enable Gov. Newsom to call for a special election.
Hunterís Congressional district covers parts of San Diego County and Temecula in Riverside County.
