SOUTHLAND – (INT) – Some store closures are part of Pier 1 Import’s restructuring plan in an effort to head-off its demise.

The Texas-based company announced Friday it will close about half of its 900 stores. They include two in Riverside and seventeen others in Southern California.

Pier 1 is facing similar problems of other brick-and-mortar retailers, less foot traffic and declining sales.
