Poll: Californians weigh in on impeachment trial and Iran situation
SAN FRANCISCO – (INT) - As the Senate trial to remove President Trump from office gets underway, California’s likely voters are deeply divided over the outcome.

A new survey by the Public Policy Institute of California (PPIC) found 88% of Democrats, 52% of independents, and 12% of Republicans supporting removal.

Asked whether they think President Trump and Congress can work together in the next year, 18 percent of adults and 14 percent of likely voters—both record lows—say yes.

“Expectations have never been lower for the president and Congress to work together and accomplish a lot this year,” said Mark Baldassare, PPIC president and CEO.

As to Iran, about one-third of Californians approve of how Trump is handling the situation while a solid majority (60% likely voters) disapprove. Republicans are far more likely to approve than independents (35%) and Democrats (8%).
