City of Angels is a city in mourning LOS ANGELES - Basketball has been put on pause in Los Angeles as players and fans continue to mourn the tragic deaths of Kobe Bryant and his daughter Gianna after Sunday's helicopter crash that also killed seven others.
The NBA postponed Tuesday night’s game between the Los Angeles Lakers and Clippers, saying the Lakers' organization is "deeply grieving the tragic loss" of Bryant. Bryant spent his 20-year NBA career with the Lakers and developed many friendships in basketball and beyond. Owner Jeanie Buss was always close with Bryant, and Lakers general manager Rob Pelinka is one of Bryant’s close friends and was his agent. Meanwhile, fans continue to pay their respects to Bryant near Staples Center, where the five-time NBA champion's legacy is growing even larger in death than it was in life as a result of a 20-year love affair with the city.
