New contract approved for 7,100 Riverside County employees
RIVERSIDE – (INT) - Riverside County Supervisors Tuesday ratified an employment agreement with Services Employees International Union (SEIU), Local 721. These employees had worked without a contract since November 2016.

The four-year agreement passed on a 4-1 vote.

Key points of the agreement include a four percent pay increase to employees on their anniversary dates. The salary range for these positions will be adjusted to remove the bottom three steps, which were found to be out of market range from neighboring counties. In addition, the top steps will increase by two percent in May 2021 and May 2022, then again by 2.5 percent in May 2023.

Employees will also pay less towards their premiums for two party or family medical coverage by $75 and $300 bimonthly, respectively.

The projected cost for this agreement for the remainder for this fiscal year is approximately $7 million. The full cost is $86.9 million for the entire four-year contract, of this approximately $6.1 million is net county cost. SEIU represents approximately 7,100 of the county’s 22,000 member workforce.

Negotiations continue with the Deputy District Attorneys Association, Riverside Sheriffs’ Association - Public Safety Unit.
