The ‘I-10 Tune-up’ is coming
BANNING – (INT) – Caltrans is rolling out a $210 million pavement repair project along Interstate 10 through the lower Banning Pass.
Dubbed the I-10 Tune-up, concrete slabs are being replaced, lanes re-paved, the center median guardrail system improved and freeway ramps upgraded between Beaumont and Route 111.
Work begins this week and won’t be completed until the end of 2022.
The opening focus will be a 5-mile segment from Pennsylvania Avenue in Beaumont to Hargrave Street in Banning.
Funding includes $116 million from Senate Bill SB1, the Road Repair and Accountability Act of 2017 that boosted gas taxes.
