Marijuana grow houses becoming epidemic in Riverside County
HEMET (INT) Marijuana grow houses are becoming more prevalent in the Hemet-San Jacinto-Anza area of Riverside County.

Authorities swooped down on yet another converted house in Hemet Monday in response to numerous complaints. A half-ton of cultivated and processed marijuana was seized at the location on Mayberry Avenue along with sophisticated equipment for growing marijuana indoors. One suspect, Chen Chun, 42, was arrested.

Since last Friday, four more grow houses in San Jacinto were taken down and tons of pot seized.

Search warrants over the last few weeks have led to dozens more in rural areas. On Tuesday, six marijuana cultivation search warrants were served in the Aguanga area. Four men were arrested and another two tons of pot was destroyed.

Authorities say the proliferation of large, illegal cultivations is the result of California voters legalizing recreational marijuana.
