Police pursuits leave two get-away drivers dead
UPLAND – (INT) – Another police chase had a deadly outcome Tuesday.

Upland police had tried to stop a black sedan, but the driver had other intentions. Minutes later, the get-away driver lost control sending the car into a utility pole near San Antonio Avenue and 24th Street. The vehicle burst into flames.

Last weekend, another police chase in Riverside had a similar outcome.

An officer had tried to stop a reportedly stolen Honda Civic entering the westbound 91 freeway. The 22-year-old driver exited the freeway at Magnolia Avenue. Her car failed to negotiate a sharp curve overturning several times.

Desiree Escobedo was fatally injured and died later at Riverside Community Hospital.

A 31-year-old male passenger survived with moderate injuries.
